
Jill Winch DIP.EGS SFP
Jill Winch initially trained as a Graphic Artist but in later years decided to study Botanical Painting at a local college. This enabled her to study plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables and to depict them in a variety of mediums.
Since Jill's initial studies she has attended the Chelsea Physic Garden where she gained her Diploma in Botanical Painting. From here she went on to college to gain her certificate in teaching mature students in Adult Education. She has also taught and held short courses at local colleges. Jill is a member of the Society of Floral Painters, exhibits at their venues, and is a regular tutor at the Burren Painting Centre in Ireland. She also has held painting holidays in Tuscany and Madingley, Cambridge .
Jill has exhibited at the SBA in London ..The Cloisters, Bury St Edmunds, local Art Societies, and also holds exhibitions of her work in her local town of Shillington .
She currently teaches her subject to different art societies and holds regular classes in her Studio at home and Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. Students are taught how to use a variety of mediums connected with Botanical Painting, ranging from watercolour techniques, creating velvety textures on flowers, painting leaves in detail, painting white flowers, how to achieve an accurate drawing and the use of coloured pencils. Students are also shown how to combine watercolour with coloured pencils .
